Why Stake?

In Ballarat’s often windy conditions, newly planted trees benefit from extra support until roots establish, especially if the trunk is slender or top-heavy.
How to Stake

Use two or three stakes, placed outside the root ball to avoid damaging the roots.

Secure the trunk with Jute Tree Tie ( available in our store ) in a figure-8 pattern, allowing slight movement to encourage root anchorage.

Check ties regularly; loosen them as the trunk thickens to avoid girdling.
When to Remove Stakes
Typically, you can remove stakes after 12–18 months, once the root system is established enough to support the tree against winds.
